Holidays & Observances in Malta
Malta is a European archipelago in the Mediterranean Sea. Due to its location in the center of the Mediterranean, it is subject to influences from many different sources. It has also been considered an important trade route location and has therefore been taken over by civilizations of every kind. Its modern culture is a rich mixture of all of these different influences. Malta also has one of the highest percentages of Roman Catholics in the world with about 98% of the population. Catholic feast days are extremely important to the Maltese way of life and are celebrated enthusiastically by the entire population. In addition to national feast days, all the parishes in Malta have a feast day to celebrate their individual patron saint, so festivities aren’t hard to find throughout Malta at every time of the year.
