Back-to-School Boost: Energizing Wraps to Fit Busy Schedules
Hey there, busy parents and grandparents! As summer winds down and the school year ramps up, we know life can get a bit chaotic. Between packing lunches, helping with homework, and running to after-school activities, finding time for yourself might seem impossible. But we all know how important it is to make sure we take care of ourselves and squeeze in some mom or dad time.
This back-to-school season, let’s talk about some super easy, quick and energizing body wraps that’ll have you glowing and feeling fantastic, even with your jam-packed schedule.
Why Body Wraps?
Body wraps are like a little spa day right in your own home. They’re perfect for giving your skin some TLC, detoxing your body, and just taking a breather from the craziness.
Most wrap treatments at a salon takes 2-3 hours from start to finish. The reason is that when the formula is applied to the skin, then wrapped in plastic or bandage wraps, the heat from your body activates a thermogenic response and enhanses the effects of the treatment.
The clay or mud formula draws impurities from the skin while additional ingredients treat your skin for glowing results.
I'm going to let you in a little secret that will have you wrapped and unwrapped in less than an hour! And I will include my favorite ways to multitask while wrapped up!
So let's dive in!
Let's talk Body Wrap Formula Options
If your skin is feeling a bit sunburned or dry after all that summer fun, the Aloe Vera healing wrap is just what you need.
Aloe Vera Wrap Ingredients:
- Aloe vera juice to soothe and hydrate
- Chamomile Extract for soothing relief
- Green tea extract to detox and rejuvenate
- A Blend of Dead Sea Salt and Epson Salts to nourish the skin
- And I like to add a few drops of my favorite essential oils that help with my skin care concerns. Typically lavender and when I have it on hand, Ylang Ylang.
How to Use:
Simply mix the ingredients, heat up to a hot bath temperature, add ace bandage type wraps or a wrap blanket to the solution, the squeeze gently and wrap over your skin. And listen, I am all for making it work so if you do not have wraps or a spa blanket, you can use a towel! It is just a bit heavier!
End of Summer Detox Wrap
For more detoxing and toning and tightening the skin, apply a clay or mud to the skin first.
You can also make your own clay wraps at home with your choice of clay powder, salts, and again, add some extracts and essential oils to work on the skin concerns you have.
My favorite after summer sun is SResults Anti-Aging Clay with essential oils to help bring a more youthful appearance to the skin, or the Fruit Fusion Clay loaded with antioxidants from the super fruits infused in the clay.
If you are making this at home, simply add goji extract, pomegranate extract or any superfruite you prefer and blend in well with the clay. Be sure to use the recommended percent of usage so that you do not irritate the skin.
How to Use:
After you have mixed all the ingredients well and blended to a smooth creamy clay base, simply apply the clay in a thin layer directly to the skin. Wrap immediately each body part with plastic wrap (or the bandage wrap soaked in the aloe formula) after applying the clay. For example, apply to one leg, then wrap it. Then apply to the other let and wrap it! Always start farthest from the heart and wrap towards the heart.
All Wrapped Up!
So this wrap process can take 15-30 minutes if you are wrapping your whole body. If you are looking to do the quickie wrap, then just pick a section: the legs, buttocks and mid-section, arms and upper body. My favorite spot treatment areas are upper thighs and upper arms!
Once you are wrapped, now it is time to let the formula get to work. Here are my tips for multi-tasking while wrapped. All of these involve being able to move and sit so they work only if you opted for the bandage or plastic wrap. If you simply covered yourself with a blanket or towel, be sure to have a computer, a book, or your phone handy so you don't have to move to get things done!
Here are 10 quick tasks for staying productive for 30 minutes while wrapped up:
1. You know that email you wanted to send? Now is the time!
2. Plan your grocery list and family meals.
3. Call your sister or friend you haven't had time for.
4. Listen to an uplifting podcast
5. Self-Care: Braid your hair. Brush your teeth. Do a teeth whitening treatment! If you did an upper body treatment, you can shave your legs and paint your toenails!
6. Do some journaling or writing.
7. If you have workout equipment, jump on and do some walking, biking or stair climbing (if you are comfortable).
8. Work on household chores. Gather the wash, do the dishes, mop the floor, clean out the fridge.
9. Write some fun notes to put around the house for your family members to find.
10. Just relax, put on some music and have a cup of tea!
After 30 minutes, remove the wraps or coverings, wipe of any excess residue with a moist cloth, and go about your day!
Remember, taking care of yourself isn’t just a luxury. It’s a must, especially when you’re taking care of others. As the back-to-school season brings new routines and challenges, make sure to squeeze in some self-care with these simple, effective body wraps. You’ll feel refreshed, rejuvenated, and ready to tackle whatever the school year throws your way.
So go ahead, treat yourself to a little body wrap bliss and shine on!
