A Foodie’s Guide to the Month of September Celebrations

A Foodie’s Guide to the Month of September Celebrations
Body First

Hey fellow food lovers! Grab your fork and calendar, because September is one delicious month of celebration! As summer sizzles out and fall flavors start to sneak in, the month is packed with tasty food holidays worth toasting, tasting, and totally indulging in.

From pizza to pies, coffee to chocolate, this is your official invitation to turn every day into a bite-sized celebration. So loosen your belt, warm up your taste buds, and let’s savor September together, one food holiday at a time.

September 1 – Cherry Popover Day

We’re starting the month with a pop, literally! Cherry Popover Day is the perfect excuse to bake something sweet and cozy. Picture this: golden popovers bursting with juicy cherries and a sprinkle of powdered sugar. If baking’s not your thing, find a local bakery that does them justice and pair it with your morning coffee. Bonus points for eating it warm, fresh out of the oven.

September 2 – World Coconut Day

Ah, coconut, the tropical treasure that makes everything taste like vacation. Celebrate with coconut shrimp, a frosty piña colada, or a slice of coconut cream pie. I love making a simple coconut rice pudding with toasted flakes on top. It’s sunshine in a bowl!

September 3 – Baby Back Ribs Day

Whether you’re grilling in the backyard or hitting up your favorite BBQ joint, Baby Back Ribs Day deserves messy fingers and extra napkins. Sweet, smoky, tangy, however you like them, ribs are pure comfort. Pro tip: mix brown sugar, smoked paprika, and a dash of espresso powder for the perfect dry rub.

September 4 – Eat an Extra Dessert Day

You don’t have to tell me twice! This day gives us full permission to indulge, twice. I say make it a dessert crawl: start with a morning pastry, end with ice cream, and maybe sneak in a cookie (or three) in between. No guilt, only joy.

September 5 – Cheese Pizza Day

If there’s one food that unites us all, it’s pizza. Plain, simple, cheesy perfection. Whether you’re team thin crust or deep dish, make it a pizza party! I love topping mine with fresh basil, a drizzle of olive oil, and a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Pizza Fridays? More like Pizza Everyday in September.

September 6 – Coffee Ice Cream Day

As a coffee addict and ice cream lover, this day feels like destiny. The bitterness of espresso meets the creamy sweetness of ice cream! Pure magic. Celebrate by blending a scoop into your morning cold brew (yes, it’s a thing), or make an affogato, hot espresso poured over ice cream. Heaven.

September 7 – Beer Lover’s Day

Grab a local brew and toast to September! Whether it’s a crisp lager, a hazy IPA, or a rich stout, this day’s all about discovering new flavors. Pair your beer with pretzels, nachos, or… more beer. I love visiting local breweries. It’s the perfect excuse to be social and sip responsibly.

September 9 – Wiener Schnitzel Day

Crispy, golden, and a little bit fancy, the schnitzel deserves more love. This Austrian dish is easy to make at home: thinly pounded veal or chicken, breaded and fried until crunchy. Serve with lemon wedges, potato salad, and a frothy beer, of course.

September 12 – Chocolate Milkshake Day

Bring on the brain freeze! Whip up an old-school chocolate shake with whole milk, chocolate syrup, and a mountain of whipped cream. Feeling extra? Add a brownie chunk or drizzle caramel on top. Life’s too short to skip dessert drinks.

September 13 – International Chocolate Day & Peanut Day

Now this is my kind of double holiday! Celebrate chocolate in every form, truffles, brownies, lava cakes, and give a nod to peanuts, their salty sidekick. My move? A homemade peanut butter chocolate pie. Crunchy crust, silky filling, total bliss.

September 14 – Cream-Filled Donut Day

I’m convinced this day was created by angels. Whether it’s custard, jelly, or Boston cream, grab your favorite donut and don’t look back. If you’re feeling creative, try making mini donuts at home or visit a local shop and sample one of everything (in the name of research, obviously).

September 15 – Linguini Day & Double Cheeseburger Day

Pasta or burgers? Why not both! For lunch, twirl up creamy linguini carbonara; for dinner, sink your teeth into a juicy double cheeseburger. September is for eating well, not choosing between carbs and cheese.

September 16 – Guacamole Day & Cinnamon Raisin Bread Day

Two comfort foods, one delicious day. Start your morning with cinnamon raisin toast slathered in butter, then whip up a guacamole platter for happy hour. Add mango or roasted corn to your guac for a twist. You’ll thank me later.

September 17 – Apple Dumpling Day

Warm, flaky pastry stuffed with spiced apples and caramelized sugar? Yes, please. Pair apple dumplings with vanilla ice cream and call it a fall preview. It’s like a hug from the inside out.

September 18 – Cheeseburger Day

Cheeseburgers deserve their own fan club. This is the day to go big with a juicy patty, melty cheese, toasted bun, and all your favorite fixings. If you’re feeling creative, try a gourmet twist: brie and caramelized onions, or a spicy chipotle aioli.

September 20 – Fried Rice Day & Queso Day

Two holidays, one glorious carb fest! Fried rice is endlessly customizable, toss in leftover veggies, shrimp, or tofu. Then dive into a bubbling skillet of queso with chips. The only rule: don’t double dip.

September 21 – Pecan Cookie Day

Nutty, buttery, chewy perfection, pecan cookies are fall in cookie form. I like adding a dash of maple syrup for an extra cozy flavor. Pro tip: bake a double batch. You’ll want seconds (and thirds).

September 22 – Ice Cream Cone Day & White Chocolate Day

Yes, ice cream makes another appearance this month! Try a new flavor or visit that quirky local ice cream parlor you’ve been eyeing. For the adventurous, dip your cone in melted white chocolate and freeze. Pure artistry.

September 25 – Quesadilla Day & Lobster Day

Talk about surf and turf! Celebrate with cheesy quesadillas at lunch and buttery lobster rolls for dinner. Bonus idea: lobster quesadilla. Yep, it’s a thing. You’re welcome.

September 26 – Dumpling Day & Key Lime Pie Day

Sweet and savory dumplings are worth celebrating any day. But when paired with zesty, creamy key lime pie? Heaven. This day might just be my favorite combo of the month.

September 27 – Chocolate Milk Day & Corned Beef Hash Day

Start your day with corned beef hash and eggs, end it with an ice-cold glass of chocolate milk. September comfort food at its finest.

September 29 – National Coffee Day & Mocha Day

Ah, my Super Bowl. If you know me, you know I take my coffee seriously. Celebrate with your favorite brew or better yet, make a mocha masterpiece: espresso + chocolate syrup + steamed milk. It’s like dessert and caffeine in one glorious cup.

September 30 – Mulled Cider Day

We wrap up the month with cozy, spiced goodness. Warm apple cider simmered with cinnamon sticks, cloves, and orange peel, it’s the taste of fall arriving. Curl up, sip slow, and toast to a month well eaten.

September Bite

September proves one delicious truth: every day can be a reason to celebrate food. Whether it’s sweet or savory, hot or cold, every bite tells a story, and that’s what being a foodie is all about.

So go ahead: try that new restaurant, bake that pie, or finally perfect your guacamole. Life’s better when you celebrate it one delicious day at a time.
