A New Cycle, A Deeper Connection: Welcoming 2026 with Heart and Purpose
As the final embers of 2025 fade and the year comes to an end, I find myself not just looking back, but feeling deeply grateful.
2025 was a year of completion, as numerology foretold. It marked a full quarter-century since the turn of the millennium, 25 years of dizzying change, collective resilience, and quiet revolutions in how we live, connect, and care for one another. We’ve witnessed technology reshape our world, climate awaken our conscience, and global crises reveal both our fragility and our strength. Through it all, one truth remained constant: we are wired to come together.
And that’s where HolidaySmart has always found its heartbeat. Not in grand monuments or historic dates alone, but in the small, joyful, often quirky daily holidays that stitch us into community. National Donut Day. World Kindness Day. Pet Appreciation Week. These aren’t just calendar fillers, they’re invitations. Invitations to laugh with a stranger over mismatched socks, to bake cookies for a neighbor, or to simply pause and say, “I see you”. In a fractured world, these tiny rituals are acts of quiet rebellion and radical hope.
Last year, I lived my own version of that spirit. As a Personal Year 5, I embraced change with open arms. I packed my car, left routine behind, and set out to continue my cross-country road trip, pet-sitting my way across America. I slept in strangers’ homes, walked dogs under the stars, and learned that trust is built one wagging tail at a time. It was a year of freedom, discovery, and breaking free. Exactly what a Year 5 promises.
Now, as we step into 2026, a Universal Year 1, symbolizing new beginnings, my personal number has shifted to 6.
And here’s the beautiful synchronicity: Year 6 is all about love, responsibility, home, and service. After a year of wandering, I’m being called inward, to nurture, to give back, to deepen roots. To share more time with loved ones. To help others. To listen more than I speak. To show up for people.
What amazes me? Both years aligned perfectly with my journey. The universe didn’t just nudge me. It handed me a roadmap written in numbers.
First, go. Explore. Expand.
Then, return. Nurture. Belong.
That’s the magic of paying attention, not just to cosmic cycles, but to the quiet wisdom in our own lives. And it’s why I believe more than ever in the power of daily holidays: they’re gentle reminders that connection isn’t reserved for birthdays or New Year’s Eve.
It’s available today.
Right now.
In a shared meal
a handwritten note
a walk in the sand with a friend
or even celebrating days like National Hugging Day,
Gratitude Day or Month.
Gratitude has become the quiet engine of my daily life. One of my favorite audibles this year is Rhonda Byrne’s The Magic, an audible teaching based on The Secret. Through its simple yet profound 28-day practice of naming three things I’m grateful for each morning and night, I’m reminded to stop chasing fulfillment and remember its already present in my life. This ritual keeps my focus on what is abundant in my life, instead of fixating on what’s missing. I see happiness in small moments, a warm cup of tea, a text from a friend, the way sunlight hits the trees in the afternoon.
The idea in learning gratitude is to manifest joy by consistently acknowledging the good. And it works. I’ve attracted more of it, not because the universe “rewards” me, but because my awareness continues to expand to notice more, appreciate more, and amplify it more.
At the same time, Michael Singer’s Living Untethered has taught me to stop fighting the current of life. We all feel and think chaos sometimes. We tell ourselves stories about people and situations. We all have that inner noise, fears, judgements and emotional turbulence to what is happening in our lives. The things we can't control.
True peace comes not from controlling circumstances, but from releasing resistance to what is... to respond rather than react, to lead with calm instead of chaos, and to trust the flow of life even when it doesn’t go as planned.
Together, these two philosophies form a powerful synergy that help guide me through this midlife chaos. The Magic reminds me to stay active in appreciating the beauty around me, while Living Untethered reminds me to release the inner blocks that can dim the light. The result? Greater clarity, deeper relationships, more authentic success and a life lived not in pursuit of happiness, but in alignment with it.
So as we enter this fresh cycle, a Year 1 full of potential, I invite you to ask:
What am I grateful for?
How can I let go of the little things and be more joyful?
How can I turn small moments into meaningful connection?
However you answer, know this: you’re not alone. At HolidaySmart, we’ll keep uncovering those little sparks of joy hidden in the calendar because every day holds a reason to celebrate each other.
Here’s to 2026: a year of new starts rooted in love, of adventures that lead us home, and of holidays, big and small, that remind us we belong to one another.
With warmth and wonder,
Patti Jewel
