August Monday / Carnival Monday

August Monday is the day that celebrates Emancipation Day in some countries. This holiday is the first Monday in August and is the start to a week long summer festival, Carnival, in many caribbean countries.

August Thursday is part of Carnival Week in Anguilla. Carnival week is the largest celebration on the island and is full of festivities starting on Monday and continuing through the following Sunday. Thursday is a public holiday that is most known for it's boat races and beach events.
