Several States in the U.S. Celebrate an Independence Day or Statehood Day when the state became independent from another country and/or joined the Union and became part of the U.S. 

 

Evacuation Day celebrates the first victory of the Revolutionary War when the British evacuated Boston. This is a public holiday in Suffolk County, Massachusetts. Evacuation Day is held on the same day as St. Patrick’s Day, so most of the celebrations coincide.
