Flag Day - Mexico

Flag Day celebrates the Mexican flag as a symbol of Mexican values. The colors were chosen based on the “Plan of Three Guarantees” first published on this date in 1821. It highlights three Mexican values: religion, independence, and unity which are represented by the colors on the Mexican flag: white, green, and red. The first flag to feature these colors was also designed on this date by Jose Magdaleno Ocampo.
