National Maritime Day

National Maritime Day celebrates the maritime industry and the ships and seafarers who work in the industry. Special activities and events are often held at seaports and businesses related to marine travel. It is observed every year on May 22, the anniversary of the successful trip on American steamship Savannah from the United States to England. This was the first successful steamship trip across the Atlantic Ocean.
