Several States in the U.S. Celebrate an Independence Day or Statehood Day when the state became independent from another country and/or joined the Union and became part of the U.S. 

 

Pioneer Day is a Local holiday in Utah which celebrates the day Brigham Young arrived Salt Lake Valley with the first group of Mormon settlers. The end of the perilous journey marked the beginning of Utah’s identity as a state. Today Pioneer Day is a state holiday in Utah where most government buildings are closed. It is celebrated with parades and fireworks among many other festivities across the state.
