Prenatal Infection Prevention Month
February is International Prenatal Infection Prevention Month. The National Institute of Health takes time this month to rase awareness for the babies who contract diseases in the womb from the mother, namely, HIV. The CDC states, "Outside of the United States, about 330,000 infants are infected with HIV during pregnancy, birth, or breastfeeding each year," mostly in Africa. Though rates in the USA have dipped below 1%, this is still an international issue and it's our duty to provide the next generation with a better qulity of live.
