Adopt a Rescued Bird Month

January is Adopt a Rescued Bird Month

Dogs and Cats are not the only animals that need adopting. Birds are often purchased and then abandoned or given up for adoption due to the owner not realizing the high care demands and long life of some bird species. These unwanted birds are often neglected, abandoned, given to breeding houses, or even freed to fend for themselves after a lifetime of captivity. The more fortunate birds end up in shelters. Bird rescue and adoption shelters often are over capacity with birds that are unreleasable and need a home.

January is Adopt a Rescued Bird Month bringing awareness to the number of birds needing adoption. You can help by adopting a bird rather than buying one from a pet store or breeder.
