Blood Donor Month

January is National Blood Donor Month! Blood and platelet donors are of invaluable service to our nation. It saves thousands of lives. National Blood Donor Month has been observed in January since 1970. Its goal is to increase blood and platelet donations during winter, which is one of the most difficult times of year to collect enough product to meet patient needs. Winter weather and the chilly weather it often brings can result in cancelled blood drives, and seasonal illnesses that may cause some donors to become unable to donate for the time being. If you can, try and get out there and donate blood this month!
