African-American Music Appreciation Month

June is African-American Music Appreciation Month! This is a time to honor the African-American musicians who have had a huge influence on the history of music. It was first declared as Black Music Month by Jimmy Carter in 1979. The name was changed by Barack Obama in 2009.
