March Into Literacy Month

March is National March Into Literacy Month! Literacy goes beyond a general understanding of reading and writing. To continue to grow as people and a society, it is important to nurture these skills both before reading begins and long after the learning process is done. Young children can have improved literacy by being read to and by learning words with symbols, generally with their favorite characters. Older children can be introduced to journaling and creative writing. Teens and up can always enter writing competitions for both essays and creative writing. It is important to make reading and writing part of your adult life as well. When was the last time you journaled or read a book for pleasure?
