No Shave November

No Shave November is here! No Shave November isn’t just about feeling the wind through your beard, it’s about raising awareness. Cancer patients often lose their hair during treatment; not shaving during this month draws attention to the struggle that they face.

In the fall of 2009, the Hill family took what had been a long-standing tradition and turned it into a month-long fundraising event after losing their father to colon cancer in November of 2007.
No-shave.org encourages participants to donate the money that they would spend on shaving, waxing, and other hair removal treatments to fund cancer treatment research and services for cancer patients.
The organization partnered with St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, the Prevent Cancer Foundation, and Fight Colorectal Cancer in 2017 to help achieve their goal of ending cancer for good.
You can get involved by ditching your razor (or cancelling your waxing appointment) and donating those extra few dollars! No-shave.org encourages participants to start their own fundraising campaign or donate to an existing campaign.

Movember

Started in 2003, The Movember Foundation has been helping raise awareness for 15 years now. Their goal is to increase public knowledge about men’s cancers, male suicide, and other preventable health conditions that are taking the lives of men.
The organization takes the opportunity to raise funding for research and treatment of cancers that affect men during the month of November. One of the foundation’s main concerns is providing care for patients battling testicular and prostate cancer
The Movember Foundation wants to prevent suicide. A life is lost to suicide once every sixty seconds. Two thirds of those lives belonged to men. The Movember Foundation want to prevent suicide by being advocates for men suffering from mental illness. They focus on spreading information and providing services to men who need them.
By growing your facial hair, the Movember Foundation says that you can start the conversation about these issues that many men are facing. You can donate to their foundation here on their official website Movember.com.
