March Equinox
The March Equinox is a seasonal astronomical event that occurs every year around March 19-21 each year and most commonly falls on March 20.
In the Northern Hemisphere, this seasonal time is known as the Vernal (Spring) Equinox and it marks the beginning of spring.
In the Southern Hemisphere this seasonal time is known as the Autumnal (Fall) Equinox, it marks the beginning of autumn.
The term "equinox" comes from the Latin words "aequus" (equal) and "nox" (night), meaning equal night. During an equinox, the Sun crosses the celestial equator, resulting in nearly equal daylight and nighttime hours all over the world.
- Equilux: The equilux, when day and night are exactly equal, occurs a few days before the equinox in the Northern Hemisphere and a few days after in the Southern Hemisphere due to atmospheric refraction.
