Celebrate the man, Edmond Hoyle, who is known as the definitive source for rules of some of the worlds most popular board games and card games that originated in the 1700s. Because of his contributions and knowledge of the games and the rules, people coined the expression, "According to Hoyle..." The date commemorates the date of his death on August 29, 1769.
