If you've ever had a favorite dragon from any books, movies, or TV shows, this is a perfect holiday for you. It is the one exciting day that will allow you to show your creativity for a dragon. Let's take a look into this holiday. 

History of Appreciate a Dragon Day

The year was 2004 when Donita K. Paul came to the decision to celebrate her book, Dragonspell. This soon evolved into a celebration of literary fictional arts, of various other dragons from the many other books, comics, and shows. Dragons have always been a part of world history, with the first depiction of dragons being as far back as 4,500 BCE. Since then dragons have appeared in almost every culture over the whole world. Dragons were soon being shown within literature, with some famous books such as Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and Eragon. Dragons have shown up in many different works over the world of literature, so that shows how important these scaly creatures are! 

Fun Activities for Appreciate a Dragon Day

On this day, many communities hold contests to show off the skill of their artist prowess. A fun activity to partake in would be to submit a favorite drawing of your dragon! If drawing isn't your forte, you can always take a look at the art itself! 

Show some appreciation online by making a post on your favorite dragon! Do you have that favorite little, or big, creature that has caught your attention? Why not show your friends and family what your favorite dragon is by sharing that love to them. Who knows, maybe you and a friend of yours will have something in common. 

Want to involve the kids? Look no further than to have your class or children to create a drawing of their favorite dragon! This can be a fun classroom event as they can show off their fun drawings.
