This is a day solely dedicated to embracing and of course eating chocolate-covered cherries. Though normally considered a summer fruit, encasing cherries in chocolate can help preserve them in the winter. Thus allowing us to have this super sweet holiday!    

History

Sometime in the 1700’s England, cherries were encased in chocolate with a little cordial liqueur. After some time this delicacy would find its way to the United States, which Americans received quite well, absolutely delighting in the little bit of alcoholic cordial surrounding the fruit dipped in chocolate.Thus becoming a common treat for us to enjoy since.
