Chucks-N-Pearls Day, celebrated on October 28, is inspired by Kamala Harris, the first female Vice President of the United States. Harris has a unique style of wearing Chuck Taylor sneakers and a pearl necklace, two signature pieces she has made popular. 

LaTanga Raney founded Chucks-N-Pearls Day in 2021 to recognize Kamala Harris as the first female Vice President of the United States and the highest-ranking black female politician in the country. Born to to a Jamaican father and an Indian mother, Harris has broken barriers throughout her career as the first black woman in numerous fields including the first female Attorney General of California from 2011 to 2017
