Cyber Monday is similar to Black Friday, but it is for online stores. It takes place on the Monday after Black Friday. On Cyber Monday, many online retailers offer sales to encourage shoppers to shop online. The end of Thanksgiving in the U.S. is usually considered the start of the Christmas season, so Cyber Monday and Black Friday give people the chance to get a head start on their Christmas shopping. In 2005 shop.org was the first online retailer to observe Cyber Monday. It has now expanded to be observed many different stores, some of which have longer running sales lasting the entire week after Thanksgiving.
