International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict

Designated by the United Nations to observe November 6th as International Day for Preventing the Exploitation of the Environment in War and Armed Conflict (A/RES/56/4). This is a day to raise awareness to the other effects of war and conflict, the environment. Lands are destroyed, water is polluted, forests and crops burned, animals killed, and the environment pays the price when war and conflict takes place in an area. This day was proclaimed to promote peace and protect the environment through conflict prevention.
