Day of Silence

Day of Silence is a student-led awareness day sponsored by the Gay, Lesbian, and Straight Network to help end bullying of LGBTQ students. This day occurs on a school day in April during which students take a vow of silence for the day to represent the silence that LGBT kids are faced with when they receive discouragement and harsh treatment from their peers. LGBT students as well as allies are encouraged to participate in this day by remaining silent and handing out note cards that explain their silence to others to pass the message along.
