I know, I know. Escargot is a little bit of a scary idea for people who have never tried it, but it’s an enduring classic enjoyed by many fans around the world. They are a popular French dish often made by removing snails from their shells, cooking them, and then serving them back in their shells with sauces. The sauce often gives it a garlicky/buttery flavor with a texture similar to other mollusks. Escargot Day is a holiday dedicated to celebrating this controversial food. If you already love escargot, then this day is an excellent excuse to eat some, and if you’ve never tried it before this is the day to be adventurous and give it a try!
