Get Gnarly Day is celebrated the last Friday in July to remind everyone to break out of the norm and do something that you haven't done before. The idea is to challenge yourself and get out of your comfort zone. 

History of Get Gnarly Day

The day started when the Whirlpool Corporation created a company campaign to encourage their employees to get excited about meeting customer expectations and reaching their goals. The popular idea of the day transferred to outside of the company and the day caught on. 

While the definition of Gnarly refers to being twisted, distateful, unpleasant, difficult, turbulent, dangerous, risky... none of these goes along with the slang used for this day. Gnarly has become a way of saying get out of your comfort zone and do something a bit more risky and challenging. 

How to Celebrate Get Gnarly Day

This fun day is a day to remind yourself to get out of your normal routine. Try something new. Do something challenging or risky. Push yourself to think and do outside the box. Be safe, have fun, and Get Gnarly!
