Gold Star Mother’s Day & Family Day

Gold Star Mother’s Day is celebrated on the last Sunday of September. It recognizes mothers who have lost a child who served in the United States Armed Forces. All government buildings fly a flag on this day. Some events of remembrance are organized by the American Gold Star Mothers, Inc. In New Jersey, Parents of Fallen Military Sons and Daughters Day is celebrated instead to honor all parents who have lost a child in the military.
