History of Coffee

Legend has it that coffee dates back to the forests of Ethiopian Plateau. By the 15th and 16th century, coffee was being cultivated and traded in the Arabian Peninsula, Persia, Egypt, Syria, and Turkey. By the mid-17th century, coffee had made its way to Europe. In the mid-1600’s coffee made its way to the New World (present day United States) and became the favored drink in 1773 when the Boston Tea Party revolt occurred due to high taxes on tea.
