International Haiku Poetry Day is April 17th

International Haiku Poetry Day celebrates haikus, which are three line poems with 5 syllables in the first line, 7 syllables in the second line, and 5 syllables in the third line. The Haiku Foundation sponsors a film festival, collaborative poetry, and haiku gatherings in many cities around the world. You can celebrate this holiday by attending a haiku gathering near you, or simply by writing some haikus on your own.
