Hostess Twinkie Day is April 6th

Oh, the Twinkie. There are not many other snacks that seem to represent America as well as this one. Remember those few months in 2012 / 2013 when twinkies were taken off the shelves and everyone freaked out? Yeah, we love our twinkies. The twinkie was invented on April 6, 1930 by James Alexander Dewar. At the time, banana cream was used as the filling to replace the strawberry cream in strawberry shortcakes when strawberries were out of season. The banana cream was replaced by vanilla cream during WW2 because of banana rations, and thus the twinkie  as we know and love it was born. Hostess Twinkie Day celebrates the birthday of the twinkie each year.
