International Dot Day is a day to celebrate creativity, and the power of imagination. It was created by Peter H. Reynolds, author of the book The Dot, to encourage people of all ages to express themselves creatively.

The Dot tells the story of a girl who is reluctant to share her artwork with the world, until she is inspired by her teacher to "just make a mark and see where it takes you." On International Dot Day, people all over the world are invited to make their own mark, and to celebrate the power of creativity.
