Admit it, you never use those pennies you get as change. They do seem to end up all over your house, car, and purse, but they are rarely useful when actually paying for something. But think about how much money you could have if you added all those lost pennies up! This is the day to go searching for every penny you can find. Exchange the pennies for dollars at the bank and use the cash you get to treat yourself! You can feel free to add your nickels and dimes into the mix too. 

The date of this celebration is no accident, it is celebrated on the birthday of Abraham Lincoln, who's image appears on the penny! The first penny was introduced by President Theodore Roosevelt on February 1909 to commemorate Lincoln's 100th birthday. It was the first American coin to depict the image of a historical person.
