Newspaper Carrier Day, observed on September 4th, is a day to celebrate the people who deliver newspapers to our doorsteps every morning. There is another Newspaper Carrier Day celebrated on Saturday of the first full week in October. 

This day was set on the date the first newspaper carrier, referred to as paperboy at the time, was hired in 1833. Barney Flaherty was hired by Benjamin Day, publisher of the New York Sun.

Celebrate by writing a thank-you note to your local newspaper carrier, thanking them for their hard work and dedication.

Dear Newspaper Carrier,

Thank you for delivering the newspaper to my doorstep every morning. It is greatly appreciated! I really enjoy reading the news each day, and I owe it all to you. You are hardworking and dedicated, and I am truly thankful. Thank you for your service!
