History of National Trails Day

National Trails Day is a holiday started by The American Hiking Society to raise awareness about hiking trails across the United States of America. It is celebrated on the first Saturday in June. Many people across the country are unaware of just how many beautiful national trails there are in America so the idea of the day is to bring more awareness to these beautiful places.
