World Hepatitis Day

World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28 annually as designated by the United Nations. The day of the year was chosen because it is the birthday of Nobel-prize winning scientist Dr Baruch Blumberg, who discovered hepatitis B Virus (HBV) and developed a diagnostic test and vaccine for the virus. 

World Hepatitis Day is a day to bring global awareness to hepatitis and encourage national and international efforts.
