Zip Code Day

Zip Code Day is July 1st

Postal Codes are extremely helpful tools for mail carriers and travellers in a way that is much more specific than cities and towns. They have been around in some countries for hundreds of years, but were first implemented universally across the US on July 1, 1963. They were called ZIP Codes, or Zone Improvement Plan Codes to help convince people that using them would help their mail be delivered quicker and more efficiently. Zip Code Day celebrates the birthday of the Zip Code and how helpful they have been to the American mailing system.
